I dreamt that I was back in high school and I was getting ready to graduate, which is a recurring dream that I might still have lots of homework that I haven’t done for these classes that I need to get credit for to graduate like I forgot about a whole math class never did my homework I was dreaming that I was in this writing class and it was a very layered and complex dream there were elements of having my actual backyard, which is very small and waking life. It’s probably about the size of a small bedroom and it’s all fenced in and I have a sliding glass door in the dream. This sliding glass door and small yard was attached to the classroom And they were animals out there that I was trying to help and feed, but whenever I would go out there to take care of the animals. Someone would like try to squeeze in through the door like someone that wasn’t supposed to be there. It almost seems like like maybe homeless people or People who live on the street or something and I would try to really quickly like block them from coming in and close the door again so it made it really difficult to try to get food to these cats and other animals because I was trying to keep people from breaking into this classroom And it was constantly dark out there like only in that backyard. Was it kind of like dusk in the class, they were some people that I know, and some people that I didn’t know, and I am a woman, and I am a lesbian and waking life and in the dream I was the same and some of my other coworkers who are also gay women Where they are, and I was kind of joking around with them and there was this person who in the dream I felt like I knew in real life, but now that I’m awake, I realize it’s an actor, but I was like flirting with her, and she was flirting with me And it was nice and fun and we were just all kind of procrastinating doing our homework. I know there was also this kind of sense of doom like something was gonna happen these people breaking in in the assignments that we all forgot to do I keep remembering in the dream I was feeling like worried and other people were feeling worried about something, but I don’t remember what that something was like. It wasn’t like an actual thing. It was just a feeling of something is going to happen or we’re in danger. Also in the dream my dad was driving me to class cause I got home and the class was in this kind of big outdoor mall, even though once I was in the classroom looked like a high school that also had the yard, but he couldn’t find he wasn’t listening to me listening to me. I was telling him where to turn and he was like no it’s ITS over here, and he kept passing the places where it was to turn into the parking lot and so he looped back around and kind of an aggressive U-turn And he was like I got it and he turned down these this large set of stairs and there were people walking down the stairs and he was going pretty fast down the stairs and I said to stop. I was trying to get him to stop and the people left off to the side so they didn’t get hit and I was like you almost just hit those people And he was like see they’re fine they’re fine and so we were arguing about that like you can’t drive downstairs when people are walking and he was like I didn’t know I couldn’t find the place to turn. This is the place where you turn so that was really frustrating.
Interpreting dreams often involves examining the symbols and emotions within the dream and relating them to the dreamer's waking life experiences. Here's a detailed interpretation of your dream:
Recurring Theme: Being back in high school and worrying about graduation is a common dream theme that often reflects feelings of responsibility, pressure, or unresolved issues. It could indicate that you're currently feeling stressed or anxious about a responsibility or goal in your waking life, perhaps related to your career or personal commitments.
Homework: The notion of unfinished homework may symbolize an unfinished task or a lack of readiness. You might be feeling that there’s something important you haven’t addressed or completed. This could be linked to work, personal development, or unresolved personal matters.
Classroom/Yard: The juxtaposition of classroom and home elements (like your backyard) may indicate a blending of personal and professional lives. The animals you’re trying to feed could symbolize nurturing aspects of yourself or neglected responsibilities that need attention, while the intruders reflect everyday challenges or stressors that hinder your progress or peace.
Animals and Intruders: Caring for animals might signify a need to tend to more nurturing aspects of your life or aspects that bring you joy, like hobbies or relationships. The intruders, perhaps perceived as homeless or outsiders, could symbolize external pressures or disruptions intruding into your personal space or mental peace.
Dark, Dusk-Laden Backyard: The darkness or dusk in the backyard may represent uncertainty or fear of the unknown. It often symbolizes a period of transition or a feeling of being "in the dark" about certain life aspects.
Feel of Familiar Yet Unfamiliar People: Your interactions with both known and unknown people (the actor you recognize upon waking) and enjoyable moments with coworkers might reflect a desire for connection and camaraderie. It suggests balancing sociability with the need to address more pressing matters.
Flirting and Procrastination: Your fun and flirtatious interactions can signify a longing for relaxed, joyful interactions amidst the stress or represent the ways you alleviate stress in your waking life. Being surrounded by lesbian coworkers could symbolize comfort in a familiar community or identity.
Sense of Doom and Danger: This ominous feeling might reflect real-life anxieties or subconscious fears, perhaps linked to external crises (such as economic worries) or more personal dilemmas (internal conflicts or fears about the future).
Father Driving: The incident with your father not listening to you during the drive could symbolize feelings of being out of control or not being heard in important life decisions. It might also reflect life’s unpredictability and how external influences or misunderstandings hamper your direction.
Arguments: The argument over driving highlights potential communication issues. It suggests that you may be feeling unheard or misunderstood by key people in your life or that there's a struggle with asserting control over your own path.
This dream seems to encapsulate a blend of anxiety and pressure alongside interludes of fun and connection, possibly mirroring your waking life’s balance between responsibility and personal enjoyment. The reoccurring sense of unfinished business suggests a need to focus on closure and completion in some areas, while interpersonal dynamics and the animal protection narrative underscore your nurturing instincts and possibly neglected aspects of your emotional life.
